I would advise checking the timing marks all line up before proceeding with VCDS - if that is then still the case i would look at adjusting the fuel pump. Basically i had to retard my pump 1 tooth to achieve the correct timing; this meant that even though the cam and flywheel marks lined up the fuel pump lock pin would not - even though timing
The response I had from Ross tech was that the 2.5 never made it to the state’s so maybe this could be the problem. The BNZ engine replaced the original AXD around 2006 / 2007, and I’ve seen a few videos on YouTube showing how to align the part on diesel cars but just can’t seem to do it. The best way to get exact TDC would be to turn the engine so the feeler drops down maybe .100" and make a mark on the timing belt to the block. Then rotate the engine the other way until the feeler drops down .100" that way and make another mark on the timing belt right at the previous mark on the block.
